Energy Conservation Systems was deeply saddened yesterday Wednesday 14th July 2010 at the passing of Peter Szental, the founder and owner of the Szencorp Group.
Recently, Peter had battled cancer. Over the last couple of months, his condition worsened. He passed away on the morning of Wednesday 14 July, staff at Energy Conservations Systems feel a huge loss for the man who was a mentor and inspiration to many.
Peter had been at the forefront of Australian efforts to improve water and energy performance in buildings by using innovative technologies, measuring and reporting systems, and energy performance contracting. Peter held numerous industry roles. He was greatly respected throughout the industry and was the Founding President and Director of the Energy Efficiency Council. He was also Treasurer of the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council and a Director of the Australian Alliance to Save Energy. He was past President of the Business Council for Sustainable Energy and also served as Deputy Chair of the Clean Energy Council.
CEO of Energy Conservations Systems, Stuart Macfarlane who has known Peter for over 20 years as a boss and close friend remembers Peter as a man who was larger than life with boundless energy and drive. Peter was a one off character who enthusiasm and passion for energy efficiency was infectious, he created the path in this field, it was privilege to know him, he said.
Macfarlane said, as CEO of this company I know that I speak on behalf of all of our staff when we express our most heartfelt condolences to his loving wife Lorraine and two children Jae and Max. He will be warmly remembered and forever respected by all.
